COMMENT on the differences between the human touch (applied in a regulated, patterned method) and the machine.  Is there a system to it? Is it an expressive drawing? Do you consider it artistic? Is it art?

Art 3 Bones – Due 9/4

Standard

LOOK AT THE WAY O’KEEFFE USES BONES AND PLAYS WITH FIGURE AND GROUND, FORM AND SPACE.  In your comments, consider the effect this has on the viewer, whether or not it is symbolic or purely formal, and consider the music that Fogelberg created as tribute to O’Keeffe.  Does it add to or change your response to her work.  You may want to listen to it with and without sound.

IN YOUR BLOG POST, COMMENT ON 3 THINGS THAT INFLUENCED HIS ART AND 3 IDEAS HE WANTED TO EXPRESS BY MEANS OF HIS ART.
WHAT DOES HE MEAN BY THIS: “On pavements and the bark of trees I have found whole worlds”. IS HE SIMPLY COPYING TREE BARK OR IS HE DOING SOMETHING ELSE?
LOOK AT THE QUALITY AND CHARACTER OF HIS LINE. LOOK AT HOW HE GROUPS IT FOR SPATIAL AND EMOTIONAL EFFECT.
IN YOUR SKETCHBOOK, SPEND AN HOUR DOING A COMPOSED TOBEY-STYLE DRAWING OR DO SMALL PARTS AND STUDIES OF THE EFFECTS OF HIS PROCESS. YOU MAY WANT TO BREAK THIS INTO 20 MIN PARTS.
